About Castor...

Where it began...

Born in the Phillipines, Castor began his lifelong love affair with fitness in his 20's. He managed a gym and began his body building career in 100 degree heat, wearing flip flops to the gym. Moving to the US in 1996, Castor began training at Bangor Naval base in Silverdale,  where he spent 10 years keeping the military mission ready. He started competing in body building competitions, and began honing his sport, kickboxing. He began teaching classes in church parking lots and school fields with nothing but a boombox. Fellow church members and friends started asking for more, and his make shift kickboxing classes started to grow...

Growing in fitness...

Castor began to realize he had a gift in connecting with, reaching and motivating people. He launched his classes at Bangor, next to the Bremerton YMCA, and was asked to be the lead instructor when the Haselwood YMCA in Silverdale was launched in 2011. His classes were packed, with over 300 people waiting to take a number to get in.... In 2004 and 2008 he won 1st place in the Lightweight Division as well as OVERALL CHAMPION at the Mr. Fort Lewis competition. Castor recently competed at the NPC Bodybuilding Nationals after placing 1st at the WA Ironman in 2012 and 2014, and continues to compete around the NW.

The journey continues...

In 2013, Castor began training and teaching at Bainbridge Athletic Club, and continued a full schedule at the Y. Demand for his classes grew. Along with his life partner and fellow instructor, Shayne Turgeon, he launched  Castor Fitness in the spring of 2019. He continues to train and teach at the Y as well, but wanted to bring more of a small group boxing and training to the island. This venue is more of a boutique boxing experience, a fusion of cardio, boxing and personal training...a way to cultivate more one on one attention to his clients in smaller groups.
